Mysore Lancers & & Bahai sect

The personal records of Nazneen Rouhani, the Present Chief of Baha’I International have revealed that it was the Soldiers of Mysore Lancers who brought out His Holiness Abdul Baha from the confines of his prison. Such is the Pride of Place of Mysore Lancers in the minds and hearts of the Baha’I Foundation. The valour, sacrifice of the Mysore Lancers was mentioned in detail as they were responsible for not only freeing the city of Haifa but also in a moral victory in the liberation of ‘Abdu ‘l-Baha’ from unjust imprisonment.

In liberating the city the allied forces were able to tilt the geopolitical landscape to ensure that the cause of peace and justice would overcome that of injustice and oppression.

The Mysore Lancers after having victoriously returned from Haifa was decorated with international honours by Yugoslavia and Serbia. After returning to Mysore, Mysore Lancers were deputed to wage wars on behalf of the then British Government.

Soon after independence, a large part of the Mysore Lancers was merged with 61 Cavalry of Indian Army. Later the residual company was merged into Mysore Armed Reserve Police which later came to be known as the Mysore State Reserve Police and finally when the State was renamed Karnataka, the merged company was part of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP).

The cavalry men and lancers of Mysore Imperial Service belonged to villages and towns around Mysore, Bangalore, Kolar, Kadur, Tumkur and Hassan.
